The HF welding machine

The HF welding machine is comprised of two components: the HF generator and the welding press.

The HF generator

The HF generator develops the electric field with a frequency of 27.12 MHz and an output of 500 watts to 60 kW (depending on the application). Up to 2 kW, we use semiconductors in the generators, but for higher power levels, an oscillator tube is used.

The HF welding press

The material to be welded is laid in or on the welding press. There are two electrodes present in the welding press, with a dual function: transmission of the HF energy to the material and the compressing of the two material layers.

Usually the welding press table serves as the lower electrode. This table is earthed and you can touch it without any problem. The upper electrode is attached under the press plate of the welding press in the shape of the desired welding seam. This upper electrode (simply called ‘electrode’) receives the HF energy from the HF generator.

There is a wide range of HF welding machines available, each optimized for specific applications.
