Applications for HF plastic welding
High frequency (HF) welding of plastics is a very common application. It is used everywhere that products composed of layers or sheets of PVC or PU film have to be welded together.
During the early years, HF plastic welding was mainly applied for office supplies such as folders, sleeves, albums, etc. In the nineteen sixties, plastics were completely 'in ', and we saw the appearance of the renowned plastic raincoats, travel cots and even shoes. Later on, larger applications also appeared, such as tarpaulins, tents, protective covers, awnings and new products from the sail makers.
Nowadays we primarily apply ourselves to highly specialized applications. In recent years, more and more ‘dedicated applications’ are appearing where, in a much larger production process, a very specific component is treated with high-frequency heating. In addition, new plastics being developed as a result of environmental or health issues are moving us forward to create very specific solutions.
HeatWaves is particularly strong in these types of specialisation!
Purpose-built machines, or standard equipment adapted to the application now make up the majority of our supplies.
Well known products where HF welding is used are car mats, baby pillows, screen cloth (sun blinds), water beds, inflatable boats, infusion and blood bags, tarpaulins, conveyor belts, rainwear, stationery, tents, air filters, advertising canvases, blister packaging, projection screens, etc.
Below is a detailed description of this plastic welding technique and the related equipment.
